1980s

: Founder discovers passion for cycling, riding BMX bikes for hours daily in Windsor, Ontario, and becomes fascinated by road cycling after watching a criterium race.

1988

: Begins competitive cycling, marking the start of a lifelong commitment to the sport.

1991

: Starts working in bike shops at age 15 in Huntsville, Ontario, with aspirations to become a professional cyclist and create a custom bike brand.

1992

: Notices industry shift as major brands like Rocky Mountain, Trek, and Marin begin manufacturing in Taiwan, sparking interest in frame building.

1994

: Faces burnout from overtraining in cycling and cross-country skiing; continues brazing and welding frames in spare time.

1995

: Moves to Ottawa, joins Pecco’s bike shop, and registers “Prologue Endurance Sports” as a business name, laying the foundation for the brand.

1996

: Builds and sells custom frames from a basement, joins Ottawa Bicycle Club racing team, and secures initial distributor agreements.

1997

: Relocates to a commercially zoned house in Ottawa’s market area, selling premium custom bikes (Prologue, Colnago, Pinarello, Hinault, Time); explores opening a ski store with family in Emsdale.

1998

: Races in Roubaix, France, gaining insights into elite cycling and the European bike industry; transitions from frame builder to designer after meeting a Taiwanese engineer.

1999

: Visits Taiwan to collaborate with a factory on custom aluminum, titanium, and carbon-insert frames, receiving the first batch of 25 frames.

2003

: Works at The Bicycle Entrepreneur in Perth, Australia, learning advanced inventory systems, frame design, and importing processes.

2004

: Returns to Ottawa, secures $10,000 from family ski store sale, and rents a house to live and work, ordering 20 aluminum and 10 carbon frames.

2006

: Launches Prologue Bicycles officially, but a sponsored race team initiative fails due to unprofessional behavior, though the company sees initial success.

2007

: Rebuilds the race team to 60 members, achieves racing success, and navigates personal loss with the passing of founder’s father.

2008

: Partners with sponsor Carlo Dal-cin to acquire a property at 13 Bullman Street, Ottawa; renovates and opens a small shop space despite challenges.

2009

: Expands to the ground floor of 13 Bullman Street, establishing a full store with a training center in the basement and living quarters upstairs.
